Pilot Project

Thanks to funding from the Ottawa Community Foundation the Food for Thought net-café is running a pilot project in the Caldwell Avenue area. It is located in the Bellevue Centre at 1475 Caldwell Avenue, Ottawa.

The purpose of this project is to offer free internet access and nourishment to residents of all ages from the Caldwell Avenue area. It is a place for area residents to connect to the web, to meet and exchange ideas. (Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.)

During the pilot  we will evaluate whether these services are of value to the neighbourhood.

We will also collect feedback throughout the trial to adapt our services to best fit the needs of the community.

If successful we intend to expand the hours of accessibility and open locations in other under-served areas of Ottawa.

Food for Thought net-café is led by a volunteer board of directors. All administration and management functions are filled by members who generously give of their time and expertise.

Thanks to the the City of Ottawa and the Carlington Community Health Center for making the Bellevue Centre available to us and to the Caldwell Family Center for providing a storage area. Thanks to Fabien Kalala for providing security services and community interface, and lastly to all the generous people who volunteer their time. Thanks to the Carlington Community Chaplaincy for promoting our project.
